GhanaFlag.jpgThings continue to get rough for our gay brothers and sisters in Ghana. After the Western Region Minister, Paul Evans Aidoo ordered all gays to be arrested; the Presbyterian Church of Ghana is planning to create therapy centers to counsel and pray the gay away from their citizens.

Ghana News Agency reports:

The church has therefore called on the government to come out with a clear position on homosexuality in the country, to enable the church to offer the necessary support in helping to reduce the spread of the practice in the society.

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the PCG, Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey said this at the commissioning of 36 Ministerial Probationers of the church at the Ranseyer Congregation, at Abetifi.

He said homosexuality was spreading fast in the society and urged the country's leaders and Ministers to put up effective measures to check it and transform the destiny of the country.

Martey believes gays to be filthy, demon possessed and Un-African. He also wants gay individuals to go through vigorous spiritual exercise to free them from homosexuality.

This is not good. This type of therapy causes more problems than solutions. And what if anyone's resistant to these sessions? Will they be thrown into prison - or worse?

The only good thing I can say about this is that counseling LGBT people is better than executing/murdering them outright.

OTOH, if you counsel them into killing themselves, the end result is the same.

Which Presbyterian denomination, if any, is the Ghana Presbyterian Church affiliated with? If it is Presbyterian USA they will be counseled out of this viewpoint. It is Pres. USA that recently oked the ordination of gay ministers in relationships. If it is Presbyterian Church in America, that is the gay hate group founded by James P. Kennedy (Coral Ridge Ministries) and they will embrace and even fund their reparative therapy.

I just found out that one of the Ghana Presbyterian Church connections IS Presbyterian USA. This could produce some leverage to prevent them from starting hate activities because Pres USA is pro-gay. Well, anyway, they are now ordaining openly gay ministers who are in relationships. While Pres USA are fairly independent, they do have governing bodies. They are not like Baptist churches. Neither are they as connectional as United Methodists. So all you gay Presbyterians need to figure out what to do about this.
