The Houston Area Pastor Council has put out an online video attacking their mayor, out lesbian Annise Parker. The three and a half minute video tries to scare the sheeple into believing Parker is turning the city gay, gay, gay! Why, she kissed her longterm partner on the cheek on election night! And she said businesses can't discriminate against trans people! Oh! The horror!

On their YouTube page the group describes the video as: "A realistic look at Houston Mayor Annise Parker's first term and how she has imposed her Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, etc. agenda on the city." Great. Now we have to add an E to the end of LGBTQQA for the etceteras. God, I hate the etceteras; they're always dragging us down and they take all the good seats at every meeting where we plan the agenda for world dominance...

Absolutely despicable.

It is "transgender" not "transgendered".

I've read comments on other sites that see this ad as a positive for Parker.

Anyone who thinks a Southern Baptist congregation will find this supportive of Parker doesn't know the Southern Baptists (or any fundamental Catholic, Protestant church).

Making Parker seem to be solely focused on lgbt issues, kissing her partner ("First Lady"), and throwing in the usual 'bathroom' scare tactics for good measure - all serve to antagonize any (Baptist) fundie in Houston. (And there are a lot of them).

The pastors' group wouldn't be playing this ad to their congregations if they didn't think it would have some effect...

Texas must be a bizarre contradiction of itself. Rick Perry is governor and Annise Parker is mayor of one of its largest cities. Ooo, the horror, the Mayor kissed her wife!

On a more serious note the community needs to keep an eye on those Baptist churches. If they endorse a candidate they could lose their non-profit status. And wouldn't that be a shame.
