Legendary cartoonist and writer Alison Bechdel is best known for her long-running comic strip, Dykes To Watch Out For and her highly acclaimed graphic memoir, Fun Home. Alison's new graphic memoir, Are You My Mother? is coming in May from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.
What is the LGBT movie to watch out for according to Alison?
My favorite LGBT film is Maurice. I'm a sucker for Maurice. All that repressed longing and guilt and boys in beautiful Edwardian suits and starched collars sitting around their rooms at Cambridge translating Plato. The scene where Maurice strokes Clive's hair, and Clive leans his head back against Maurice's perfectly creased white flannel knee, and they almost kiss but get interrupted? That's my favorite sex scene ever, even though Hugh Grant is in it.
