Facebook was abuzz earlier this week with the news that Scott Maziroff had committed suicide. Apparently he was "severely depressed," according to one friend. That a well-liked, physically fit gay man who moved easily in the worlds of entertainment and WeHo social circles commits suicide at the age of 51 speaks volumes about how such deep depression is not limited to bullied LGBT teens.
It is imperative that we take care of each other and offer the gift of kindness to those suffering in silence - whether it's a gentle hand on a forearm, or respectfully listening to someone's troubles or a shoulder to cry on - happiness is a human right, too.
There will be a funeral for Scott today in New York and there are plans for a memorial in Los Angeles on Saturday, January 14th, with details to be announced.
