Yesterday, pop singer and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson announced her support of Ron Paul's candidacy to win the Republican's presidential nomination in a blog post on her site.
I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he's got my vote. Too bad he probably won't.
After tons of fans deluged her page with references to Paul's racist, homophobic newsletter articles, Clarkson hedged her support a wee bit.
I am really sorry if I have offended anyone. Obviously that was not my intent. I do not support racism. I support gay rights, straight rights, women's rights, men's rights, white/black/purple/orange rights. I like Ron Paul because he believes in less government and letting the people (all of us) make the decisions and mold our country. That is all. Out of all of the Republican nominees, he's my favorite.
So even though she doesn't support racism, she supports a racist. Even though she supports gay rights, she supports a candidate who's former staffer admits won't even use a gay man's bathroom. He may be her favorite, but he's still a racist anti-gay bigot.
If she's not a racist and not homophobic and doesn't condone those attitudes, shouldn't she be endorsing President Obama?
