The mainstream media is picking up on a campaign promise from Newt Gingrich that we should all take seriously. He told Face the Nation he would send police to arrest "activist judges."

This should come as no surprise to anyone who was paying attention to the Iowa Supreme Court recall election.

When Gingrich did not like the unanimous Iowa Supreme Court decision to allow gays and lesbians to marry in that state, Gingrich quietly funneled $125,000 to the Southern Poverty Law Center known hate group, American Family Association, to help recall the three justices. They were successful in their efforts, but it should be noted that the justices refused to campaign to retain their seats because they were so opposed to the assault on the independent judiciary.

Newt Gingrich has already proven he is willing to assault the judicial branch when he does not agree with them. We should take him at his word when he says he will intimidate the judiciary if he becomes president. What's worse, he does not seem to care that such an assault is unconstitutional.

This begs the question, if he wins and he takes the oath of office to "protect and defend the constitution," will he be telling the truth or will he be lying with his hand on the Bible?
