Sad news from across the pond today. Longtime British site New MediaUK Gay News announced today that it would merge with London's Gay Star News. Site owner Andy Harley is retiring due to ill health.

UK Gay News has always been my go-to source for international LGBT news. The site's coverage of Russia's fight for LGBT rights has been unparalleled and it will be sorely missed. The site will remain online and the old articles will remain at their published URLs.

I'd never heard for Gay Star News until today, but I added it to my RSS feeds at Andy's urging. Andy has ran his site for nine years now and he's done a fantastic job of keeping me updated on a daily basis about international LGBT news. If he's giving me a recommendation, I'd suggest we all take it.

The @UKGayNews Twitter account will remain active and has been transferred to Gay City News control as well.
