Projector AJ let me know yesterday that the graphic I've been using for this feature is actually a logo for a PBS show. Yikes! While it was on Flickr with a Creative Commons commercial use license, I'm a little doubtful that PBS has given it the green light. Since I was struggling to figure out what to call these posts, I'm going to try to find a relevant photo for the feature graphic and headline. We'll start out with a warning that you need to know about a wonky paving stone. Indeed.

• Carmel, Indiana high school administrators are facing their umpteenth instance of male athletes sexually abusing classmates. The community is one of Indiana's wealthiest and they've tried to brush it under the rug each time. This is, apparently, no exception.
• February 12 was the 70th anniversary of FDR #EO9066, the Executive Order that authorized the detainment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Did you know that George Takai's first elementary classes were held under the grandstands of a racetrack where his family was being held? • The bigots behind Prop 8 will ask the full Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to review the decision. Interestingly enough, the "full" host of judges actually only includes about half; Chris Geidner tells us why.

• Also in Indiana embarassment, Republican state representative Bob Morris has made wild claims about the Girl Scouts and is leading a charge to oppose a non-binding resolution acknowledging the girls' group on their 100th anniversary. He claims that the scouts are taught how to be a lesbian and how to procure abortions. The local ABC station interviewed Morris about the controversy and one of the state's most vociferously anti-gay and anti-female Republicans, Speaker of the House Brian Bosma, stood behind him in the halls of the statehouse handing out Planned Parenthood Patties Thin Mints.
• Baltimore passed a gender non-discrimination ordinance.
• HRC's outgoing president, Joe Solmonese, has been tapped to be a national co-chair of the Obama re-election campaign. Next stop? Becoming part of the administration after the election. Mark my words.
