Wednesday was the birthday of punk rock Riot Grrl cellist and new mom Madigan Shive, about to hit the road with Boston trans fierce folkie Evan Greer, bringing their babies along on the "Tiny Fists" Tour!

Internationally touring activist musicians Bonfire Madigan Shive and Evan Greer hit the road this spring with their babies on board, toting an arsenal of stringed instruments and a whole bunch of reusable diapers. The "Tiny Fists" tour will span from Vancouver BC to Los Angeles with dozens of stops in between featuring high energy political musical performances and interactive workshops on a variety of social justice, LGBTQ, environmental, mental health and alternative parenting topics.

The Tiny Fists Tour, Shive and Greer's first project together, will bring their art and activism into a broad range of venues: university classrooms, gay bars, art galleries and activist community centers, along with the more traditional music venues. "Our primary goal with the Tiny Fists Tour is to increase the visibility of LGBTQ and activist parents and show people that you don't have to stop rocking when you become a mom!" said Greer. Starting on cello at the age of nine, Madigan Shive began her composing career at fifteen in the Pacific Northwest Riot Grrrl scene. Shive has gone on to establish herself as a singular and trailblazing performer, blending folk, art, punk, classical and avant-baroque styles. Her albums include Sew True, ...from the Burnpile, Saddle the Bridge, Plays for Change, and the recently reissued I Bleed: a Decade of Song; she is currently finishing her sixth full-length album, to be released in collaboration with her label, MoonPuss Music.

Evan Greer is a transgender singer/songwriter, parent, and community organizer based in Boston, MA. At 26 years old, Evan tours internationally as a musician and facilitates interactive workshops to support movements for justice and liberation. Armed with a repertoire of fiercely radical songs that vary in style from pop-punk poetry to foot-stompin' bluegrass singalongs, Evan has shared stages with artists as musically diverse as Pete Seeger, Billy Bragg, Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, Holly Near and Chumbawamba. Howard Zinn compared Greer to Phil Ochs and called her an "eloquent and energetic writer."
