- Yesterday's New York Times editorial takes the GOP presidential candidates that signed the NOM pledge to task for not disavowing the group after it's race-baiting strategy was exposed. "Mr. Romney and the others should be racing to make clear their disapproval. We detect no stampede," the paper writes. Imagine that.
- Transgender beauty queen Jenna Talackova will be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe Canada competition after all. The Miss Universe Organization released a statement saying, "The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions."
- David Mixner muses on who will be the 2012 Vice Presidential candidate. His surprise final suggestion: former candidate and popular pundit Mike Huckabee. It's a sad, sad day when Huckabee seems like a moderate you can trust compared to possibilities like Santorum or Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell.
- Friend of the site and former GLAAD staffer Corey Johnson will run for NYC Council Speaker Christine Quinn's seat. Quinn is term-limited and is rumored to be planning a run for mayor. Interestingly enough, all of the Democrats who've announced for the seat are LGBT people; Quinn is a lesbian.
