Seems tonight's finale of RuPaul's Drag Race is even more complicated than I thought. While the reunion and winner's reactions are now in the can, when we see the announcement, that joy in the champion's eyes is as fake as her lashes.
In an interview with the Dailey Beast, RuPaul explained:
We are going to film the ending three times so we can protect the integrity, because I know how it is with you lying bitches.
Seems that after the winner was leaked half way through last season, they were taking no chances this year.
But this removes some of the love I have for whoever wins because I know there is something less than true excitement going on. In their winning moment, they are still unsure if they actually are the winner. How cruel Ru. How cruel.
These kids are actors. They are actresses. They know how to do it. It's a live audience so they're going to be excited anyway. I venture to say - is there ever a genuine response to anything in this world? They've been doing a freakin' reality show for the past six months. They live their whole lives to give those reactions.
So as of this moment, even Chad, Sharon, and PhiPhi are still as clueless to their fate as we are. And no matter how great of a climax, we'll all know she faked it.
Join me tonight as I live blog the finale at 9:00EST, and check out the final video for RuPaul's "Glamazon," from last weeks episode after the jump. Go team Sharon!
