NPH.jpgHow could I forget to put this on my calendar? It is that time of year again for one of the gayest and least watched nights of television - The Tony Awards.

I've always watched the Broadway awards since the days of Rosie O'Donnell as host. Even though I was half a country away from NYC, I still tuned in every year - occasionally even skipping church for it! - I was such a rebel.

For many of those years, this was one of the few nights I got to see other gay people on TV. The first time I saw a man thank his partner - or even the first time I saw two men kiss on TV, was on the Tony Awards.

This year, for the third year, one of my favorite gays, Neil Patrick Harris, is hosting. I honestly think he is the best hosts I have ever seen on the Tonys (I would love to see him host the Oscars - the other gay awards show).

The Tony Awards air this Sunday, June 10th at 8:00p.m. EST on CBS, the closing night of DC Pride. What a great way to end it - slightly (or more than slightly) buzzed from the festival earlier in the day, and ready to get our Broadway on.

NPH has been making the rounds to promote it this week.

He made a stop in at The Colbert Report earlier this week where he gave Stephen a lesson in shit gay people say. Check out the clip after the jump.

NPH also foiled an attempt at being Punk'd this week, when he returned from a hike to find a live bear in his car. He acts mostly unphased. Don't they know we gays speak bear? Grrr. Check out the clip here (starts at 7:22).

Don't miss the awards this weekend, and Happy Pride!
