I made fun of the silent trailer for George Michael's new single, "White Light," when it came out last week for being simply stupid. At the end I quipped, "In related news, fresh music from George Michael? It wasn't that long ago the intertubes declared he was dying."
George knew that lots of people would be asking that question and his new song is all about his recent brush with death. Back in April, George told his Twitter followers that he'd begun writing the dance song "for every one of you who has prayed for me, for every person who has stopped me in the streets to ask me how I'm doing."
He's declared that the album "may be the best dance record I've ever made." I'd quibble that most of his music since the mid-90's has been damn lackluster, but I've always liked "Faith" the best.
Still, I'm glad to see he's doing well. From writing a song in April to recording it, creating a video, and releasing an entire album, he's obviously alive and kicking. That's a grueling schedule for anyone who hasn't been deathly ill, so kudos to him for jumping back in the game with both feet.
Video is after the break.
