Happy Labor Day!
I hope all the Republicans are enjoying their day off. I'm sure their convention really tired them out, and they are having a much needed day of rest before diving into the non-stop attacks that are sure to accompany the Democrats' turn at wooing the nation.
God bless organized labor for making this holiday possible!
Oh wait . . . does that mean they have to head to the office today in protest?
It's not like attacks on unions are a new thing, but since conservatives successfully scared the American public into a Tea Party frenzy - something almost universally embraced by Republicans and used to take back the House and pack the state legislatures with right-wing nuts and Republican governors - we have seen some of the worst attacks on organized labor in decades.
And now the GOP platform approved last week has made it abundantly clear how far the Republicans are willing to go to put an end to workers' rights in this country.
With Norma Rae as inspiration, how has organized labor affected your life? Are you from a union family? Or do you side with the Republicans? Helpful or harmful, how are you celebrating American workers today?
