"The family is threatened in many places by a defection of human nature."

"Marriage and the family are institutions that must be promoted and defended from every possible misrepresentation of their true nature, since whatever is injurious to them is injurious to society itself."

-- Leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Benedict XVI talking about the Church's views on LGBT people in society. While it's tempting to see the Pope as increasingly irrelevant, it's important to remember that worldwide the Catholic Church still wields significant influence, and even with in the USA, when the Pope speaks, people listen.
