Father_of_the_bride_poster.jpgAs we wait patiently to hear what, if any, marriage cases will be taken up by the Supreme Court, "Chapel of Love" seemed appropriate.

I will always associate the song with one of my favorite movies, the 1991 remake of Father of the Bride starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton, where I first heard the song included on the soundtrack.

My sister and I would watch this and it's sequel, Father of the Bride II, over and over and over, and it is one of the things we still bond over (along with My Best Friend's Wedding), even though she opposes marriage equality (she has at least agreed to not air that opinion on Facebook for my sake). I have complete faith that she will come around sooner or later.

Ever since the sequel, I have been hoping for a third film - preferably Father of the Groom. And now with the possibility of marriage equality returning to California, can't we have Steve Martin and Diane Keaton's characters' son Matty (Kieran Culkin) finally find the right guy? You know it would be a hit.

I hadn't heard most of these covers other than the Dixie Cups and Bette Midler, and I would have to say they are my favorite. Elton John is okay, but the Beach Boys - in my opinion - are just plain bad.

What do you think? Who did it best. Did I leave someone out? Post a link in the comments.
