Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed says he's been a longterm ally of the LGBT community who was "quite comfortable with civil unions," but, he tells MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts, he went through his own process with close gay friends. He concluded that "there is a difference, that is meaningful, between civil unions and marriage." And that's why he changed his position.
