Every morning we post a "Quote of the Day" and if I hadn't already done today's I'd be posting this one. I love it so much it had to become its own post.

cambodia.gifCambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen isn't known for his warm and fuzzy feelings about gays and lesbians. While Former Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk spoke out in favor of marriage equality, Hun Sen disowned his adopted daughter after she wed her female partner.

On Monday's International Human Rights Day, Hun Sen had a change of heart and made a pro-gay statement. Now, sometimes folks who are new to supporting our community say well-intentioned things that are downright stupid. We bite our tongue, thank them nicely, and giggle to ourselves.

This is one of those times. It has to be the best quote I could possibly use on the site all week and I couldn't just save it for tomorrow. It made me guffaw so loudly this morning the cats ran away from the lunatic on the couch. So what'd he say as his big statement?

"There are gays and lesbians in every country, so there should be no discrimination against them just because of their destiny," he said. "Most of them are good people and are not doing alcohol, drugs or racing vehicles."

I'm going to go out tonight, have a drink or six, smoke some good weed, and race a ZipCar around the beltway. Fuck yeah. 'Cuz that's breaking stereotypes.
