Earlier this month, Michael and I had the privilege of attending Pride in the Hamptons in beautiful East Hampton, NY. Our dear friend Bruce T. Sloane, who hosts the annual event at his beautiful waterfront home, whisked us out of Washington, D.C. for the weekend so we could attend and help out with the July 6 event.
And what a night it was! The celebratory evening was a fundraiser for Live Out Loud, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering LGBT youth by connecting them with successful LGBT role models. Several hundred guests attended the cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and silent auction portion, which was followed by a magnificent dinner for over 150 people.
Notable guests included legendary playwright Edward Albee, textile designer Jack Lenor Larsen, Broadway producer Stewart Lane, GLAAD's Acting President Dave Montez, actor and GLAAD spokesperson Omar Sharif Jr., and NYC TV personality Raphael Miranda.
The food was amazing, the auction items were top-notch, the views and the sunset were heavenly, and the company (and the dancing!) were second to none. And best of all, more than $100,000 was raised to support the valuable work of Live Out Loud.
