If you're a regular reader, by now you're aware that I'm a little pop culture stoopid. I don't keep up with all the latest fads and music. It may get my gay card revoked, but I'll admit that I still haven't listened to Lady Gaga's latest song - and it's not a priority for me.

I'd seen on social media that both Katy Perry and Sara Bareilles have new songs out and they're pretty similar. I love mashups so when I saw a link to a mashup of "Roar" and "Brave," I thought I'd give it a click. It stars two cute former Voice contestants - Nathan Parrett and a young gentleman called Pip who I can only assume got his name from a mother that instinctively knew he'd grow up to look like the illegitimate love child of Chris Hayes and Peter Pan.

My virginal ears hadn't heard either tune before when I hit play to the mashup. I had no idea which song was which except for the lines where they used the actual words "roar" and "brave." Holy cow.

Related: Is Sara Bareilles a thing now? Should I go Google her to see who she is?

I'm sure that you've likely heard them both before, but if you haven't, I put both videos after the break. I was amazed listening to the first minute or so of both songs. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I'm going to go watch I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver reruns on the talky box now while you children go out and play. Wear a sweater.

Katy Perry: Roar

Sara Bareilles: Brave
