Joe Jervis over at Joe.My.God reports that fringe group One Million Moms is imploring its members to send them money so they can fight back against evolution -- you know, that evil tool of Lucifer -- on college campuses.
The group's director, Monica Cole, wrote in an email:
"1MM is teaming up with evangelist Ray Comfort to distribute Evolution vs. God far and wide, especially to those who reject God, the Bible and creation. Specifically, teams of Christian student groups on some of the nation's most liberal colleges are in place and stand ready to personally hand this eye-opening DVD to other students... We are offering Evolution vs. God to you for a suggested donation of only $5.00 to 1MM. Then...help us get this DVD into the hands of young people at America's most liberal colleges and universities... Click on the video and watch liberal professors dumbfounded by God's truth."
In an interview with the Blaze, Glenn Beck's fake news site, Comfort said that the movie was "huge" because it had 1,000 downloads on the first day it was released last month. And Comfort had another audacious claim:
"I believe it's going to take down evolution. It exposes it at bogus science. That sounds like a bold claim, but it's true. The movie delivers, and it's not just our claim."
Watch the movie trailer after the jump and see for yourself. I have a sneaking suspicion that the scientific consensus around evolution will survive this latest loony right-wing attack just fine.
