jammeh.jpgIn remarks delivered to the United Nations General Assembly in New York today, Gambian president dictator Yahya Jammeh denounced homosexuality, calling it one of the three "biggest threats to human existence," "more deadly than all natural disasters put together."

The other two great threats listed by the west African leader were greed and obsession with world domination. Greed, grandiosity, and gays -- that's some axis of evil, ain't it?

If Jammeh's name looks familiar, it's because he has a history of vicious anti-LGBT remarks. Earlier this year in a speech before Gambia's parliament, he called homosexuality "anti-humanity" and said that gays caught in his country will "regret" ever having been born.

The AP also reports:

In 2008, [Jammeh] told gays and lesbians to leave the country or have their heads cut off.

Jammeh also has drawn international criticism for his claim he can cure AIDS with an herbal body rub and bananas.

map_gambia.gifJammeh calls himself Gambia's president, but he's widely regarded as a dictator, having seized control of the country in 1994 in a military coup. He's just so happened to have won all four presidential "elections" since.

According to the U.S. Department of State, the United States maintains an embassy in the Gambian capital of Banjul and sends the country millions of dollars in humanitarian assistance every year.
