Last Saturday, on the same day that President Obama authorized a raid in Libya that captured a top al Qaida leader and former lieutenant to Osama bin Laden, Rep. Michele Bachmann -- everyone's favorite batty Minnesotan -- went on a Christian radio show and accused him of sending money to the terrorist group.
She claimed, completely falsely of course, that "President Obama waived a ban on arming terrorists" and that "U.S. taxpayers are now paying to give arms to terrorists, including al Qaeda."
But according to Rep. Bachmann, this is all fine and dandy... because it means Jesus is coming soon!
"[This] happened and as of today the United States is willingly, knowingly, intentionally sending arms to terrorists. Now what this says to me is -- I'm a believer in Jesus Christ, as I look at the End Times scripture, this says to me that the leaf is on the fig tree and we are to understand the signs of the times, which is your ministry, we are to understand where we are in God's End Times history...
"Rather than seeing this as a negative... we need to rejoice! Maranatha, come Lord Jesus, His day is at hand. And so when we see up is down and right is called wrong, when this is happening, we were told this; that these days would be as the days of Noah. We are seeing that in our time."
Remember: this woman is a member of Congress. If that doesn't freak you out in this time of government shutdowns and possible default, I don't know what will.
Crackpot, party of one? Your table's ready.
