DC's 27th annual 17th Street High High Race is coming up next week and last year's winner, Inertia, has some solid tips on how you can win the big event too.
The event is a local tradition. Several of our friends participate and every year we shlep down to the madness to snap pictures and enjoy the scenery and entertainment. It's definitely a must-see bash.
Most of the participants have no interest in winning the actual race and simply parade down the route showing off their elaborate costumes. Last year Bilerico contributor James Holmes joined with a friend to make an uncanny Patsy and Edina homage that had the crowd going wild and asking to pose for pictures with them.
The big event starts at 9pm Queer Standard Time; participants and contestants start arriving around 6. Get there early if you want to take photos or be on the front lines.
