The New Jersey Supreme Court announced today that while they will hear the Governor's challenge to a state court ruling allowing same-sex marriage, they will not stay the lower court judge's deadline of October 21 for the state to start performing marriages. Same-sex marriages will start on Monday at 12:01am.
Newark mayor and newly elected Senator Cory Booker has announced that he will start performing ceremonies as soon as they're legal. Residents can apply for licenses now in some cities. There is a 72 hour waiting period after applying for a license before a couple can get married.
