Omaha Man Beaten For Defending Gay Friends

"My friend then said, 'Yes, I know, I'm a boy in a dress.' After that [one of the assailants] said, 'Yes I know, and you're... disgusting.' I said, 'Hey guys, we're not looking for any trouble, we're just trying to get home...' It's really sad, disgusting. It just makes no sense this day and age and in Omaha, for all of this stuff to still be happening [out] in the streets."

-- Ryan Langenegger, an Omaha, Nebraska man who was beaten over the weekend after sticking up for two of his gay friends who were being harassed at a local restaurant. Langenegger says he doesn't regret standing up to bigotry, though, because "it's not right."
