marcus_bachmann4.jpgBachmann & Associates -- the infamous Minnesota clinic co-owned by Marcus and Michele Bachmann that received worldwide attention two years ago after I went undercover and exposed it for offering fraudulent "ex-gay" therapy -- quietly changed its name in October.

Sally Jo Sorensen, editor of the progressive Minnesota blog Bluestem Prairie, reports:

It's been glitterbombed, infiltrated by gay men pretending to seek "pray away the gay" reparative therapy and mocked by Jon Stewart and Jerry Seinfeld on the Daily Show. It's been the focus of the Last Word by Lawrence O'Donnell. But the eponymous Bachmann and Associates clinic is no more.

On October 1, 2013, Bachmann and Associates rebranded itself as Counseling Care. Bluestem confirmed the official date of the name change in a phone conversation with a staffer at the Burnsville branch.

Sorenson also notes that the clinic's revamped website has scrubbed all mention of Michele Bachmann's nearly seven-year career as a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Not only that, Michele isn't even mentioned by name on the main page, but is instead referred to simply as Marcus's wife.

Bachmann's clinic will need more than an image makeover, though, if two Minnesota Democrats have their way: as we reported earlier this week, Rep. Karen Clark plans to introduce a bill that would make Minnesota the third state to ban "ex-gay therapy." State Senator Scott Dibble, who spearheaded the push for marriage equality, is likely to introduce companion legislation in the state Senate.
