calendario_romano_1.gifWhen Michael and I visited Venice, Milan, Florence, Rome as part of our European backpacking trip in 2009, we noticed a particular calendar in souvenir kiosks and shops all around those cities. It was called the Calendario Romano, and it featured a gorgeous-looking man on the cover dressed in black and wearing a clerical collar.

Of course, I picked one up. According to photographer Piero Pazzi, the dashing-looking men depicted inside are all real priests from Rome and Spain. He says that the purpose of the calendar is to make people better informed about the Vatican -- and indeed, each calendar contains a list of all 266 popes and miscellaneous facts about the Vatican -- but let's be honest, nobody buys the calendar for that information. They're buying it to look at Father What-a-Waste every month of the year!

Well, that's why we bought it anyway.

I found our 2010 calendar the other day as I was digging through our old travel souvenirs. Just for fun I thought I'd check to see if the Calendario Romano was still being issued, and sure enough, it's going strong!

Photos of the sexy priests from the 2014 Calendario Romano are after the jump. If you like what you see, click here to order.
