Hollywood actress Goldie Hawn is in Davos, Switzerland this week at the World Economic Forum, hosting a panel discussion this morning on mindfulness to help soothe the nerves of the stressed-out elite.
But she got herself into some hot water last night when she tweeted a photo of her shaking the hand of the "wonderful" president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan, who this month signed an atrocious "Jail the Gays" law:
To her credit, though, when I and others expressed our shock and let her know about the human rights violations that Jonathan is responsible for, she deleted the tweet and apologized:
@funnyjeffrey my god I deeply apologize for not being informed. horrifying!— Goldie Hawn (@goldiehawn) January 23, 2014
Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin, who is in Davos as part of a first-ever LGBT panel, said he also spoke with Hawn after her tweet and she expressed her regret in person.
