constitutional-logic-marriage.jpegYou can make a difference today and help kill Indiana's proposed constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage and civil unions, but you have to do it by 1pm Eastern time.

When the amendment passed the state House of Representatives two years ago, it was an overwhelming 70-26 vote. This time around, the gap has tightened considerably and there's a chance we can defeat it.

More than a third of the Indiana House members who voted for a constitutional same-sex marriage ban in 2011 now plan to vote against it or are wavering.

The number switching to support the amendment? Zero.
...
As the House prepares to take up the issue again -- as early as Monday -- members who have declared a position are split down the middle, an Indianapolis Star poll found.

Of the 100 House members, 38 plan to vote for the measure, while 38 plan to vote against it. The other 24 said they were undecided (13) or declined to comment (11).

One of the biggest agents for change has been a) the bad publicity generated by the effort and b) the sheer volume of anti-amendment emails and phone calls legislators have been getting. Here's your chance to add to the volume and express your own displeasure.

Hoosier representatives will be voting on the amendment today at 1:30pm Eastern time. With only 13 undecided votes and the margin so tight, we have to win them over to defeat the attempt to write discrimination into the state constitution. Take a moment to send these 13 legislators an email (even if it's the same one sent 13 times) and let them know the entire nation is watching.

Contact information for the wavering representatives are below. Please take a moment and help us out.
