Louie Gohmert, the Republican U.S. Representative from Texas's First Congressional District, is an outspoken homophobe known for his views that, for example, marriage equality leads to bestiality. When the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the heart of the so-called "Defense of Marriage Act" last June, Gohmert lamented that it heralded "the end of a great civilization" and that America would suffer because the Supreme Court went "against the laws of nature and nature's God."
Nearly seven months later, he's still pissed. At a Heritage Foundation event this week the day after a federal judge struck down Oklahoma's marriage discrimination amendment, Gohmert rebuked the High Court for opening the floodgates of marriage equality. "They need some basic plumbing lessons," he said.
Ummm, "plumbing lessons?" Needless to say, in addition to being an outspoken homophobe, Rep. Gohmert is also an accomplished idiot. And that makes him perfect fodder for everyone's favorite late-night comedian, Jon Stewart.
Watch Stewart give Gohmert's plumbing comments the Daily Show treatment in a segment about the spread of marriage equality in blood-red states, after the jump.
