-- Eighteen-year-old Mark Betterson, a senior at East Lee County High School in Lehigh Acres, Florida, who was suspended for 10 days for physically defending an openly gay classmate from an anti-gay attacker. Even though authorities say Betterson's intervention saved the victim, Jonathan Colon, from more serious injury, school officials suspended him under the school's "zero-tolerance" policy. Betterson says he has no regrets about stepping in to help his classmate. Colon reportedly organized a rally to protest Betterson's suspension.
