The website TMZ today released footage of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson -- whose racist and homophobic remarks touched off a national controversy last year -- blasting gays in a fiery sermon delivered on Easter Sunday.
In it, he (predictably) blames the media for misunderstanding that he wasn't, in fact, being homophobic (rrrrrright), he was merely quoting the Bible. And he rips into the gay community with all the vitriol you'd expect:
"[Gays] were mad at me... because instead of acknowledging their sin, like you had better do, they railed against me for giving them the truth about their sins. Don't deceive yourselves. You want the verse? The news media didn't even know it was a verse! They thought I was just mouthing off.
"'Is homosexual behavior a sin?' the guy asked me. I said, 'Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Don't be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.'
"I gave him the rest of the story."
By the end, Robertson is shouting in self-righteous anger. Watch:
How long will they continue legitimizing this homophobic bigot by giving him a national television platform?
Robertson's full 43-minute Easter Sunday sermon is after the jump.
