Two years ago today, in an interview with ABC's Robin Roberts, President Obama spoke words that millions of LGBT Americans wanted to hear: "...it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married." It was a watershed moment in the fight for marriage equality: the first time in American history that a sitting president had ever spoken out for same-sex couples' freedom to marry.

I will never forget that day or the way President Obama's words touched my heart. Actually hearing my president recognizing and affirming my family -- as a family -- was an incredibly powerful experience. The first thing I did after the President spoke was call my husband at work to share the news, but I choked up before I could even get the words out. We cried over the phone together, grateful to be alive to see such an historic day.

Where were you when President Obama evolved on marriage equality? Watch his remarks below, then share your memories in the comments section.
