Queer NYC-based rocker/songwriter and LGBTQ activist Samia, who Bilerico readers will remember from last year's marriage equality anthem "We Have the Right," is back with a sultry new single, "Soul on Fire," that explores her pansexuality and strives to empower people whose desires don't necessarily fit into what conservative society deems acceptable.
She writes, via press release:
"The music video explores themes of smashing existing gender roles and rules in sexuality, and empowers both straight and queer women and men to be true to themselves in life, love, and sex. There's no reason, if I'm with a man, why I can't take on the traditionally masculine role in the relationship, or for both of us to switch roles as our moods dictate. I want people to feel good about who they are. Most people don't fit into a tidy little box - especially when it comes to love."
Samia debuted the song last week and will be performing it onstage at NYC Pride this weekend. Check it out below -- it's sexy as hell, and you'll be singing it all night! And if you're attending NYC Pride, be sure to catch Samia's performance on Sunday at 2 p.m. on Hudson Street, between W 13th & 14th Streets.
