Editor's Note: This incredible LGBT video went viral while I was away last weekend, and I only got around to watching it today. But even though many of you, dear readers, will likely have already seen it, it's so powerful and uplifting it's worth sharing here nonetheless.
Jeff and Hillary Whittington welcomed Ryland, their first chil, in 2007. Ryland was assigned female at birth, and the couple happily raised Ryland as a girl. However, it soon became clear that Ryland did not feel like a girl inside -- one of the first sentences Ryland ever spoke was "I am a boy."
When one day Ryland said, "When the family dies, I will cut my hair so I can be a boy" and asked why God made him this way, the Whittingtons knew they had to do something. So they liberated Ryland by allowing him to transition.
The Whittingtons shared their beautiful, inspiring story last month at the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast in San Diego, then uploaded it to YouTube. The video has 5.4 million views and counting. Check it out after the jump -- you'll soon see why.
