Dan O'Neill hails from from Bilerico's own Bloomington, Indiana, where he spent much of his youth and college and graduate careers. He was brought to DC in spring 2006 by Congress' big stem cell research debate and liked the city so much that he decided to stay for a while.
Dan received his MBA in Biotechnology Enterprise and undergraduate degrees in Biology and Modern Dance from Indiana University and is presently pursing a joint MD-MPH degree at the George Washington University School of Medicine as a 2011 Point Foundation Scholar. He plans to become a primary care physician, focusing on HIV/AIDS. In particular, he will work in underserved communities (e.g. with LGBT patients) as part of his National Health Service Corps requirements and beyond.
Dan is involved in a number of LGBT-affiliated organizations in the DC community, and is co-founder of both the Gay/Bi/Trans HIV Prevention Working Group at the DC LGBT Center and the DC FUK!T Campaign. He has also been appointed to the DC HIV Prevention Community Planning Group and the DC Community Coalition for the 2012 International AIDS Conference. His previous contributions to Bilerico have dealt primarily with LGBT health-related issues.
