Don Sherfick is a retired Navy civilian attorney who jumped over to the legal world (IU Indianapolis Law School 1973) after starting his working life as an electrical engineer (Purdue 1961) A life-long resident of Indianapolis, he attended Cathedral High School when it was an all-boys institution at 14th and Meridian.
He’s the father of four, grandfather of eight, and great-grandfather of one. Since retirement in 1994 he’s been active in several GLBT-related not-for-profit organizations, including being president and treasurer of IndyChoruses, parent organization of the Indianapolis Men’s and Women’s Choruses. He and his partner Jerry Hicks, a retired computer systems analyst, were singing members for several years. He’s currently treasurer of Stop The Amendment, Inc and has been engaged with Indiana Equality in fighting SJR-7, the so-called “Indiana Marriage Amendment."
Don and Jerry are consummate news and political/current events junkies. They share interests in music, are avid watchers of “Lost”, “Heroes” and “Smallville”, as well as being semi-nutty Colt’s fans. They do a lot of computer-related things, including Don’s interest in producing music-accompanied videos for special events for family and friends. They watch the world from the perspective of a content long-term GLBT couple who happen to also be interracial.
