Gloria doesn't believe in autobiographies because they are by nature dependent on fictions. But here are some documented facts.
Gloria's a certified clinical sexologist in private practice, and holds a Ph.D. in human sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality (2000), where she currently serves as Assoc. Professor and graduate advisor. M.A. in English Lit (Columbia U, '78). Named a "Hero of the Sexual Revolution" by the Erotic Heritage Museum in Las Vegas (2007). Member, Advisory Board, Domestic Violence Project (NLA). Member, Board of Governors, Leather Hall of Fame. Judge at Drummer (1994) and Southeast Leatherfest (2008). Keynote, Leather Leadership Conference (2009). Gloria founded the first on-line BDSM support group on Compuserve in 1987.
Selectively lectures at universities, academic conferences and leather events. (Gloria really hates to leave her dogs.) Frequently quoted on anything and everything sexual in major magazines (Cosmo, Men's Health, GQ, Redbook), newspapers, sometimes radio and tv. (Man, she talks a lot.) Author of four books, including Different Loving: The World of Sexual Dominance & Submission (Random House); and Come Hither: A Commonsense Guide to Kinky Sex (Simon & Schuster), both considered fundamental texts on the subject. Expert contributor to Sexual Health Network and iFriends on all aspects of sexuality. (Obviously, you just can't shut Gloria up.)
Also widely published journalist, interviewer and anthologized poet/literary writer. "Tennessee Williams Fellow" at the Sewanee Writers' Conference 1992; Former poetry editor (Boulevard Magazine); Contributing Editor, Eclectic Literary Forum (ELF) Magazine.
A lifestyle dominant and sexual anarchist, child of Holocaust Survivors and nice Jewish girl (originally) from Brooklyn, Gloria lives with her two life partners and their menagerie of furry and fishy children far, far from the madding crowd, in a garden in a forest in rural Georgia.
