Indiana Black Pride's first annual festival in the park "Coming Out with Pride for the First Time" 2005 is over; the last tables have been returned to the rental agency; the organization is forbidden to call or email each other for a week; there are no meetings until the end of September, and yet I know I am not the only one bursting with the realization of what was achieved.

To all the people who helped, and that includes everone who came to any or all of the events, even the protesters, thank you. We will be back next year more numerous and even more joyful. In the meantime, there will be more social and educational events and more work to bring us all together and knit a vibrant, visible, undeniable community. I am certainly proof that everyone is welcome and everyone is needed.

I will treasure my experiences of the last few months with the Indiana Black Pride family, so aptly named: they have so very much to be button-burstingly proud of and so much more to accomplish.
