First Republicans Forum was initially founded as an organization directed toward encouraging open discussion within the Republican Party. The organization has evolved to embrace its own set of Principles, and calls for organizers and volunteers to help engage politically.

The organization's inaugural event was in 2005, and consisted of a gathering on the lawn of the Benjamin Harrison Home with Former New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman serving as featured speaker. (A Republican, Whitman appointed the majority of Judges sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court which has just acted to enforce the Constitutional guarantee of equal protection of the laws for all citizens.)

The organization's principles more describe limited government, free enterprise, individual freedom, and other tenets of the Republican Party's original founding, and we are now moving to organize politically and promote a return to these principles within the Republican Party.

In this election year, the Republican Party is straying especially far from our founding principles. While attempting to secure the loyalties and passion of a minority hard right segment, the Republican Party is alienating a younger generation upon which our future depends. While the Democratic Party offers an alternative for some, that Party's own internal conflicts in the areas of free enterprise, international trade, and limited government suggest that a vigorous Republican Party remains essential to America's health.

Because Independency is powerless in its ability to shape America's future; because our political system requires two contending parties, each promoting positive and vigorous philosophies; and because the Republican Party historically has had a profoundly positive impact on American freedom and prosperity, the Board of First Republicans is committed to the Republican Party and to affecting its future, beginning in Indiana.

In addition to inviting and depending upon the support and participation of generations of Republicans who identified strongly and personally with the Republicanism of Eisenhower, Ford, Reagan, and G.H.W. Bush nationally, or Senator Lugar, Robert Orr, Bill Hudnut, and Bob Garton locally, First Republicans calls especially on younger Republicans whose belief in the Republican Party is wavering under the force of the Party's current reputation for intolerance and incompassion.

First Republicans will have a mixer on Thursday, November 2nd from 5:30 to 7 at 120 West, the Bar and Grill of the Hilton Hotel located on 120 West Market. (Additionally publicity on this gathering will be forthcoming shortly.) All are invited. Please visit our homepage and our blog for more information about our organization.
