Jesus loves me, but he can't stand you

Don't you just love home movies? Sing a-longs?

Here for your Friday enjoyment is the lovely Fred Phelps clan with their first music video, "God Hates the World." Yes, it's set to "We Are the World." No, I'm not gonna point out which one is doing Michael Jackson's part.

Isn't it absolutely fascinating to watch them as they're singing? Some of the older women genuinely seem happy to be crooning such a hateful, ignorant song, but several of the teens don't seem too thrilled. Each age group has at least one glass-eyed fanatic twittering like a songbird though. (I keep catching myself staring at Shirley Phelps. She reminds me of the evil Queen from Snow White usually, but she's actually rather, well, normal and happy looking here. I always expect her to be angry and hateful.)

See after the jump for the classic Shirley Phelps vs FOX reporter Julie Banderas...

Wow. Shirley seems downright giddy!

I just cant even process that.. There's so many things I feel like I should say but cant find a place to start.. Sigh.....

We shouldn't worry about the Phelps "klan." They will simply inbreed themselves back into primordial forms and then vanish in a puff of smoke. I've seen the X-Files, so I know this can happen. Should we invite La'Shar Sharp and sister PRAISE! to marry into the Phelps klan?

Is it just me or did Shirley Phelps-Roper, on some level, make more sense than the Fox News journalist? Like, you have all these Fox News people saying that America is losing the Culture Wars b/c of its own shallowness (see O'reilly, hannity, and Coulter) and that OBL was justified in attacking on 9/11 b/c of America's liberalism (see Robertson, Falwell, D'Souza), then don't they really hate America? They also don't like the sep. of church and state or equality or freedom of choice or much else that this country is about.... Why aren't they there w/ the Phelpses?

Does the Westboro Baptist Church all go to the same shop to get their posters done? The graphic design of all of them has been remarkably similar for years.

Oh and that song was hilarious. I'm waiting for Fred to say, "Haha! This has all been a joke!"

That's the best comment yet, Jay! That made me laugh so hard I almost spit coffee on the computer screen. LOL

I think bringing the two sisters into the klan would just give them some more DNA to keep the cult alive.... But I'm sure they'd be jumping up and down at the possibilities. :)

For a good laugh, I encourage you to see, at the bottom of the links page is a small clip put together by my partner. It is Phelps related.

Patty and I just watched this. I'll throw it on my blog. It is so sad. In a way, I feel sorry for them. My concern is that, by numbers, they look like they might be breeding more.

I so love the Phelps for putting such an unattractive face on hate -- and for being such good fundraisers for our cause!

Everybody now... a one and a two and a three...."You'll eat your children, Yeah, You'll eat them"...

With a nice chianti and some farber beans?

That's funny, Mike. That part stood out to me too. It was like the rotten cherry on top of that nasty sundae, wasn't it?

Wait, I just noticed, did they have Falwell burning in hell there?

I think these people have too much time on their hands. I wonder what they would think if they had to live in a country where there are absolutely no rights at all. Then they'd think twice about denying rights to ANY group. They come across as nut-jobs anyway. I don't see who could possibly take them seriously.
