lynne%20forgot.jpgFred Phelps has a new video about the Cheneys. It's about as unhinged as we've come to expect from these people.

Fred does gets few of his facts right: the Cheneys have constantly tried to hide their lesbian daughter, the Cheneys are a bunch of liars, everything's about a photo-op with the Bush administration, Lynne wrote a book with a lesbian sensibility (as much as she denies it now), and Mary had a baby.

He's still (morally) wrong, and he's still serving a very useful function for the conservative movement: he's the person that crazy conservatives like Falwell, Dobson, Robertson, etc., can point to and say that they're not that crazy or hateful and then turn around and talk about how compassionate they are compared to the WBC. And if Dick ever responds to this, he can point out how he's not homophobic, see, he's the target or homophobia, and he's really just one of the us, now let him go find some conservative activist judges for the Supreme court to overturn Lawrence. But don't call him intolerant; he's obviously nowhere near the Phelps Klan's intolerance!

Oh, well, here it is. The language is strong, like everything from the Phelps Klan.

He's crazier than a shithouse rat. It's true that he serves a useful function by making people like Falwell look sane and compassionate by comparison, but I think that as far as he's concerned, that's strictly lagniappe. That whole family is a cult; they seem to be getting toward the point where they're looking for "suicide by cop," as it were. I mean: protesting the funerals of fallen soldiers? "God hates America" right after 9/11? They're toxic sludge monsters; they -want- to be hated, and possibly (I am beginning to believe) killed and thus vindicated.

I feel really sad for Mary's baby. Therapy, anyone?
