Hello, Project readers!

I notice from the site statistics that we have a whole bunch of new people on the site who were directed here this weekend, so here are a few cool Project features that y'all should definitely try out. They're great for everyone, from those who've been reading this site longer than I've known it existed to people who just stumbled on here.

1. Subscribe to our RSS feed! An RSS feed takes all the posts from the blogs you like and aggregates them into one easy-to-scroll reader. Click here if you already use an RSS reader. If you don't know what RSS is, check out Jerame's in-depth explanation of RSS feeds, or go here, sign in or create a Google account, click "Add subscription", type "" into the field, and click "add". It's that easy!

2. Become a trusted commenter! If you want to see your comments appear instantly on the site, then become a trusted commenter. Click here to go to TypeKey, sign up for an account (very, very basic internet sign-up and useful for other blogs, including Feministing), and leave a comment. After your first comment, Bil can add you as a trusted commenter and you won't have to be approved each time you comment!

3. Sign-up for our newsletter! Right at the top of this page, right in the center in between our logo and the date, is a little field to sign up for our email newsletter, a great way to stay on top of Project happenings if you can't check up on us everyday. No, we don't sell off your email address, but we will email you everyday and tell you what's up!

We want to know your opinion on this issue! While arguing about an opinion or idea is encouraged, personal attacks will not be tolerated. Please be respectful of others.

The editorial team will delete a comment that is off-topic, abusive, exceptionally incoherent, includes a slur or is soliciting and/or advertising. Repeated violations of the policy will result in revocation of your user account. Please keep in mind that this is our online home; ill-mannered house guests will be shown the door.

Thanks for this, Alex. One quick note about becoming a trusted commenter.

This week, we are upgrading our backend to Movable Type 4.0. In the process, we will get even more ways for someone to become a trusted commenter. With the new system, you can still use TypeKey, but you'll also have the option to register with us directly at The Bilerico Project. The other options are LiveJournal, OpenID, and Vox.

Along with the upgrade, we'll have many new ways to keep up to date with your favorite TBP content. We'll have RSS feeds for each category and author so you can track posts however you prefer. If you only like What the Buck or if you prefer to only read National Politics, we'll have an RSS feed for you. You'll also notice we are already offering comment feeds for every post so you can track your favorite threads and respond to comments as soon as they arrive.

Movable Type 4 will let us do so much more with the site we haven't begun to explore the possibilities. Stay tuned...
