Project Runway Rundown

I know I'm a little behind the curve on this post, but I was out of the country last week and am just now getting caught up on my Tivo viewing.

Season 4 of Project Runway is off to a strong start, and I for one am really happy to see so many out gay contestants this season. My favorite is Jack, who unfortunately said goodbye last week because an antibiotic-resistant infection made him to decide to voluntarily go home.

Just the kind of gorgeous gay guy I like to have in my hag collection, Jack won the Episode 3 challenge for the outfit he designed for Tiki Barber to wear on the Today Show. He was one of the only contestants who finished the challenge because he wisely decided to scale his outfit back to only two pieces in order to finish by show time. The pieces were flawlessly crafted and he actually listened to what Barber had to say about what he wanted. I am disappointed that we won't be seeing more of Jack's designs this season and I hope that his health has improved since leaving the show.

My other favorite designers so far are Christian, Rami and Jillian. There's no shortage of drama queens to keep the show interesting and I think Christian is the wittiest (if not bitchiest) of all. I'm a little disappointed that there are only 3 people of color this season. But it's really not that different from the past 3 groups of designers.

For those of you who watch the show, do you think Tim was being fair by bringing Chris back when Jack decided to leave? I leave it up to you to decide.

Just to be clear, Jack's departure had nothing to do with his HIV status, but with his contraction of a "super-virus" called MRSA, for which he required hospitalization.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm sorry that the post was unclear about that.

I'm just disappointed that the producers didn't let Jack take some time off to heal and then have him come back at a later date. They did this on Season 3 when Michael's grandmother passed away. But maybe we'll see Jack again in a future season.

Jack impressed me not just because he was a talented designer. He was low drama and worked well with others on the team assignments and he even helped other designers on the mens wear challenge by letting them borrow his pattern and helping them with draping.

Good luck to him!

I don't watch the show, but I did hear about this. I hope he gets to feeling better and fully recuperates. Maybe he'll be a cast member next season?

I bet they'll bring him back next season because he seems really talented and already has lots of fans (he may not want to come back!), I saw somewhere that he's dating Dale from Top Chef, which is kind of funny...

How can you not love Jack? The boys at Queerty have a great interview with him here:

Michael, thanks for sharing the link. The interview was really great and those pictures are hot enough to make me go gay for him. ;^)
