They fired Tucker Carlson!

TVNewser is reporting that "insiders" have told them that Tucker's getting canceled.

Maybe MSNBC has realized that swinging to the Right to try and shake out Fox News for viewers isn't a winning strategy. Or maybe they realized that at least half their commentators should accept the reality that white men aren't oppressed. Or maybe they think that people don't want to watch a bully wannabe talk about his fun days of beating up fags. Or maybe they got tired of his history of abusing the rules of logic, evidence, and reality.

Whatever it was, I'll take it as a step in the right direction.

Every time I see that clip of the straight white guys laughing at the idea of bashing a guy for hitting on someone in a bathroom it absolutely turns my stomache. Even more so after this year's rash of violent killings of queer folk.

Now, to follow on with the mood, they should fire the ones who fired Carlson. It mystifies me how they took so long to boot him; his superiors are just as guilty as him under the charge of incompetence.

From the article: "but Carlson stays on as a political contributor to all MSNBC shows at least through the 2008 election..."

I`ve trained myself never to celebrate too quickly.

No, you're right, Mercedes. He'll be a Pat Buchanan now, well-paid, making the rounds, but with no show. Still an improvement, and think people will tire of him quickly. Pat Buchanan may be a complete racist, etc., but at least he's smart. You can't really say that about Tucker.

Me too, Jere.

It took them long enough - but at least they're cutting down on his face time.

I'm glad to hear that Tucker Carlson is being canned. Yes, he'll still be around yawping endlessly, but at least he won't have a daily forum for his homophobia and assholery.

I'm tired of the 'conservative media' trying to force feed conservapundits like Glenn Beck down our throats and not giving people like Randi Rhodes, Farai Chideya and others equivalent face time.

It is all about the dollars and Nielson ratings. Media is like politics in this way. Randi wins whenever she is head to head with Limbaugh, but he is so much stronger overall that he bullies her off the air. The winner is the one who draws the most audience and tastes change. Take the Republican Party in Lincoln's time who (too late) freed the slaves over the violent objections of the Democratic Party. Republicans were once the wild radical liberals and the Democrats were the conservative party until Franklin Roosevelt.

Watch, Limbaugh is back on the Oxy, his time is coming and calling for HIS audience to vote for Clinton rather than the dangerous McCain "who would destroy the moral compass of the Republican party" whatever that is, seems to me to be proof of it. These people already know they are going to lose big. Randi will get her day.

The Tucker Carlson slot was probably the only MSNBC program worth watching! There is a reason MSNBC is dead last in viewer ratings. Does anyone really think Hardball is worth watching? They axed the wrong program...
