The Obama campaign released a list of prominent political supporters yesterday. They're calling the group the Indiana Leadership Committee. The supporters have been tasked "to lead grassroots organizing efforts for the Indiana campaign."

The list includes Congress members, mayors, prosecutors and state legislators. The question remains though - will the mayor of Batesville's endorsement really help Obama win? Complete list after the jump.

"After college I went back to Chicago and worked with churches to help communities recover from plant closings," Obama said. "I understand the importance of strong local leaders and everyday people coming together to spark the change we so desperately need. I'm proud to have the support of these Hoosiers who have agreed to join me as we work to challenge the conventional thinking and transform our country."

An endorsement is a heck of a lot more than just a one-time statement of support. It can also mean a financial contribution (the mothers milk of politics) and maybe a loan of experienced staffers and organizers. It can also get your campaign the experienced advice of a successful local power broker. If you are trying to organize to get votes in Batesville, the support of the Mayor there can be darn useful!
