The best interview I've done was with Justin Cole, GLAAD's Director of Digital and Online Media. Justin is one of the movement's brightest minds. He gets social networking and how to work in an online environment. He knows how to work with traditional media and the blogs.

For all of the complaining I've done about LGBT state and national organizations who don't understand how to work with new media, Justin lays it on the table swiftly and succinctly. It's a whole new world out there in LGBT activism. Those groups will either have to a) catch up quickly to continue being viable or b) fold.

Part 2 is after the jump. These two clips are part of a much larger conversation between Justin and I and I've tried to keep the rhythm and flow. Since a lot of Part 1 is background, Part 2 is where it gets good.

You are very touchy-feely and I don't blame you.

Very informative interview. Bloggers and activists should all take the time to listen as outreach does make all the difference.

Fantastic interview with Justin Cole, very proffessional, informative. We need more interviews like this one to get information to people who are not, but would like to be blogging. Outreach is wonderful! Great job Justin

OK, so I am a member of a local LGBT organization reaching out to you -- the Bilerico bloggers. Please look at our FB group We're from Fresno, sounds like we're a lot like Indianapolis in terms of LGBT organizing...not a lot of sophisticated infrastructure, particularly when it comes to netroots activism. Please though, take a moment to look at what we're trying to create -- we want to seize a moment in history and bring the battle for LGBT rights to the places that are so effectively taking them away. This movement needs to find its Selma, or Montgomery -- maybe that's someplace like Fresno, CA. We're looking for help, insight, ideas, and participation. Thanks for your consideration.
