On stage with the delightful mayor of Miami Beach, Matti Herrera Bower, Richie Rich introduces Patti LaBelle who comes out as a straight woman with a clear opinion about gay marriage rights. April 18, 2009

For the hearing impaired, for those reading Bilerico-Florida on devices that don't receive video, for those in a hushed workplace, and for anyone wanting to quote her, the text of Patti LaBelle's comments may be found after the jump.

I was asked earlier if I was gay.
Well I can answer this way: I'm very gay and happy.
I'm very happy to be here for my gay friends.
I've never been with a woman, so I guess I'm straight, OK?
But I'm straight enough to know the difference between right and wrong.
I am straight enough to know that if you want to marry whoever you want to marry you should be able to marry whoever you want to marry.
Thank you Miami Beach. I'll see you soon.
