Zack and the Black Cat

Want a queer way to make your way into the dog days of August? It is July 31st after all...

If so, then head to the Black Cat tonight, as Zack is a spinning Transformer. And he promises to pump up the volume on some of the best vintage music from the 60s through the 80s.

Regarding the D.C. scene, Zack has this to say:

I was thinking what the majority of indie band nights in DC are like these days, and tried to figure out how to do something completely different. I noticed that most people are throwing electro nights, which are awesome, but there are a lot of them.

So I thought this would be a good time to exploit my knowledge (or sick obsession, depending on who you talk to) with artists like Talking Heads, ELO, Kate Bush and the like.

So I came up with Transformer (based on an album by my all-time favorite Lou Reed) and decided that there would be room in the scene for a 60s, 70s, 80s party of vintage rock, pop, glam and disco for the discerning queer.

Sounds interesting. If I wasn't in South Florida right now, I'd be there as it sounds like a fun night.

Here's Zack again:

That whole era just screams gay in a very appealing way (think Lou Reed's leather jackets, Bryan Ferry's early stage persona, anything about Sylvester) and I would like to try and inject some of that aesthetic back into DC.

Want something fun to do tonight, in the dog daze of the approaching August void? If so, head to the Black Cat tonight. You know the way there, or at least how to use google to figure it out.

Now I'm back to the pool in South Florida, which I hear is less hot and humid than in D.C. So go hear some cool music and feel some cool temperatures while heating up the floor at the Black Cat while Zack spins. And most definitely enjoy your Transformation from July to August.
